Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2013
Amazing as always, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2013 proved to be the most important event regarding beauty and automobile on European grounds again.
Apart from some exciting surprises and the fantastic (and not surprisingly all winning) Bugatti 57SC Atlantic, a great line-up of historically important Lamborghinis including some prototypes were on display.
Sponsor BMW revealed two world premiere concepts: A Pininfarina designed Gran Lusso Coupé and the BMW Concept Ninety. The jury awarded the Trofeo BMW Group for “best of show” to Ralph Lauren’s Bugatti 57SC Atlantic from 1938 as well as it won the Coppa d’Oro Villa d’Este prize decided by public referendum. The Concept Cars and Prototypes class was headed by the Alfa Romeo Disco Volante by Touring.
The event is without a doubt one of the most beautiful events in the classic car calendar, gathering history’s most beautiful automotive creations in a great setting. And not to forget to mention BMW’s ability to organize and support such a sophisticated high-level event and keeping it relaxed and not high-flown at the same time, involving the public on the grounds of Villa Erba and serving Bavarian beer from a beer pump built in a BMW Barockengel.
The Hotel for next year is already booked! :-)
